Port Tallon is where most of the story's setting takes place in and it is an imaginary area that was created to station Sayle Enterprises location. This area includes a port, some countryside land, and Herod Sayle's home. Sayle's home also happens to be the location in which the Stormbreaker computers are being manufactured in. This setting takes place in modern time just like London because Sayle's home is pretty advanced with modern technology and there is also a factory below the house that manufactures the computers. There is also an airplane runway that will allow the cargo planes and trucks to load up for the computers to be distributed to all of England. Due to all of these factors being in one single area the main character, Alex, will spend most of his time investigating and searching through most of these areas to find what his uncle had.
Stormbreaker setting involves London throughout of the book because MI6 is stationed there and it is also where the book first starts out at. London is a real place, but with some imaginary buildings like the Royal & General which is supposedly a bank, but it's actually the headquarter for the MI6. London during this time is very similar to London in the present because there aren't any old type of buildings or technology that is in London, but modern. Another reason the setting is set towards the present is because of the Stormbreaker computer which is technology that is created in the modern age, but the computer is more advanced than most. The setting of London also has realistic buildings such as schools, homes, graveyards, and above all else, streets. With the story taking partly place in London, it shows that the main character came from a somewhat of a wealthy area and was able to receive a great education in both schooling and martial arts.
